THE TD FIVE BORO BIKE TOUR

America's largest charitable bike ride — 40 miles of car-free streets across all five boroughs of New York City

About the Event

The TD Five Boro Bike Tour is America's largest charitable bike ride and one of the largest cycling events in the world. On the first Sunday in May, 32,000 cyclists of all skill levels roll through every borough of New York City on 40 miles (64 km) of streets totally free of cars.

The event began in 1977, when it was called the Five Boro Challenge and had about 250 participants. Today it has grown into a beloved New York City tradition that draws riders from across the United States and around the world.

The Route

The tour traverses all five boroughs — Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island — on a fully closed course. Riders start in Lower Manhattan and travel north through Central Park and into the Bronx before crossing into Queens, then Brooklyn, and finally crossing the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge into Staten Island for the finish festival.

A Charitable Tradition

Produced by Bike New York, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour supports free bike education programs across New York City. Each year the event raises funds to teach bike safety and riding skills to thousands of children and adults.

Part of the WACE Family

The TD Five Boro Bike Tour is a charter member of the World Association of Cycling Events, joining five other prestigious mass participation rides that together attract more than 200,000 participants from 90 countries annually.
